Orbital Surgery
The eye is surrounded by bones on all sides. The orbit is the space between the eyeball and the bones around the eye. A variety of disorders can occur in these soft tissues including thyroid eye disease and tumors. Fractures can occur in the bony walls of the orbit with trauma.
Orbital surgery may involve treatment for thyroid eye disease (orbital decompression or retraction repair), orbital fracture repair and orbital tumor removal. In some cases of trauma or tumors, eyes may need to be removed with enucleation or evisceration procedures.
